This is a book on the culture of Pixar, one of the most creative organizations in the world. I thought this is a book worth taking some notes on to revisit later. This time, I&#8217;ve used Perplexity AI to organize my notes. I think it did a good job. See below for some of my takeways from the book:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\"><strong>Prototyping and Creative Process<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Early prototypes are often rough and imperfect. Iteratively Improve.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collective effort and unhindered communication are crucial.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hierarchy doesn&#8217;t matter in the creative process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Show incomplete work to get new ideas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blindly copying what&#8217;s come before leads to mediocrity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focus on details for artistic excellence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Balance enforcing limits with flexibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\"><strong>Embracing Failure and Randomness<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Truly creative companies start projects that might fail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove rules that hinder creative impulse.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accept and be aware of randomness&#8217;s presence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Randomness and luck can play a huge role in success.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use Occam&#8217;s razor for simplicity, but be open to complexity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unknown and randomness can bring inspiration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\"><strong>Problem-Solving and Mistake Management<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enable people to fix mistakes without permission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t underestimate small problems.
